How to make the Taskbar Clock show seconds in Windows 10

If you’ve ever needed to wait for a specific time and have needed to view the precise seconds on the clock, you’ve come to the right tutorial.  Did you know that the taskbar clock for Windows 10 can display the seconds, no longer will you have to type into Google that dreaded question of what time it is.

For a convenient way to view the seconds, a little modification is needed for your computer, while it is not a default setting, you can modify the registry on your computer slightly to enable, or disable, this feature.

Hint: This feature is only available for systems running Windows 10, Build 14393.

If you do not have this build version, please update your operating system or find third-party applications that will enable this feature.

To begin, follow the steps provided:

  1. Open the Registry Editor
    1. To do this, either right-click the Start menu and select ‘Run’ from the context menu or press Windows Key+R
    2. Type ‘regedit’, without the quotes, and hit the OK button
  2. Navigate the Registry Editor and find the following:
    1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
  3. Create a new 32-bit DWORD value
    1. To do this, right click on the Advanced folder and select the following:
      1. NEW -> DWORD (32-bit) value
    2. Name the value:
      1. ShowSecondsInSystemClock
      2. Set value data to: 1
  4. Apply the changes and then log out of your account
  5. Log back into your account

The seconds should be displaying in the taskbar clock.
